This spreadsheet is for those looking to travel for specific dates to compare different destinations of interest. The values listed in this example respond to my personal preferences when travelling. It is important to think first what you would like to experience, whether you value nature activities or you want to visit cities and museums, if you want to find somewhere remote or you want to go to a popular destination in its off peak season, wether you value having many hours of light or you want to experience the darkness of the extreme winters of the poles, whether you want to surf and the waves are better in specific times of the year in each coast or whether you prioritise travelling to get involved in local projects, supporting a charity or learning a traditional craft.
– Take some time to consider YOUR priorities, all of those aspects that will make your trip more enjoyable.
– Then add costs of meals and accommodation, transport, flights and any activities you may want to do, sites you may want to visit or guides you may have to hire.
– Consider the process of adaptation, is it a different time zone? What is the time difference? Do you speak the language? Do they use a different alphabet? Do you have any food restrictions?
-Finally think sustainably, can you commute to the places you want to visit within the country without flying? Do you have to visit all of those destinations if they are so far away from each other? Do some research, could you find alternatives that would not require flying either because they are closer or by using public transport finding spots on the way?
